EXPLANATION OF PPANJ MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES
ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP
• The owner and partner of a photographic establishment, and his/her spouse who works in the photographic
establishment, who devotes the major portion of his/her time, and derives the major portion of his/her income
from the art of photography as a self-employed photographer.
• An Active Member is entitled to all the privileges of membership.

ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
• The owner of a photographic establishment who devotes less than a major portion of his/her time, and derives
less than a major portion of his/her income from the art of photography as a professional photographer.
• A full time photographer who is a full time employee of an Active Member, and who has been recommended by
his/her employer.
• Associate members shall have all the privileges of membership except the right to vote or hold state office in the Association,
once having earned 25 service credits from the Association’s degree program, he/she may be considered for
office by the Nominating Committee. An Associate member may hold office in a Region or may serve as a councilor to
the PPA, providing he/she meets the requirements for membership in the PPA. An Associate member may serve as a
delegate or as an alternate delegate to the Council and may cast votes during his/her term of office.

TRADE MEMBERSHIP
• Owners and/or employees of firms offering supplies or photographic equipment to the photographic industry.
• A Trade Member shall have all the privileges of membership except the right to vote or hold office.
(Note: The words "photography" and "photographer" above include the art of videography and videographer.)
